Unfinished Business

I couldn’t go to class on this day because I wasn’t feeling well at all, but this still was a profoundly interesting day in context of the class. Although in some ways, not having that routine, which was becoming regular in my life, being removed from that situation, highlighted the impact it was having on me. I noticed my movements more, and especially over the weekend, when I was feeling somewhat better, I started noticing the intricacies of my friends’ and family’s movements as well. I remember this one instance, in which I was lying on the sofa with a blanket covering me while two of my friends were dancing to techno in the room. Techno had always been a music type that we associated with individuality, freedom of movement, but there was something different about it now, I consciously acknowledged the small decisions their bodies seemed to be making. Especially seeing this outside of class, with people that do not concern themselves much with the theory of dance, brought attention to how much movement impacts lives in everyday scenarios.
